Welcome to the future, traveller!
A detailed timeline into the future from the perspective of 2025.
This timeline of the future is speculative, and is based off of past and current trends, scientific advancements, historical events, and current events largely centered on the US from Mar-Dec 2025. The future is always uncertain, and unexpected events will alter the timeline in unseen ways.
- Note: This website is best viewed on a desktop or laptop at 1920x1080 resolution. The view on mobile may be janky.
- This site is for teens and up (~14+). Features descriptions of violence, mental health, death, assassinations, mild profanity, and wars.
- This site is very javascript heavy. All timeline entries are stored in javascript strings, most animations use javascript somewhere, and most pages have HTML code in javascript strings. If this site is super janky, it's likely because javascript is turned off.
- It will forever be a work in progress, just like myself. This website will never truly be "done". As long as I'm enjoying the process of adding more entries, that's all that matters.
- I'm someone who has been coding on a regular basis on at least one programming language since the early days of the COVID pandemic, and had at least one programming class in school since late 2018. I wouldn't call myself a "pro", as I still have tons of knowledge gaps, and I still write spaghetti code sometimes, but I have a natural intuition for systems of inputs and outputs that interact with each other starting from the foundations.
Some notes and rules about this project
How these predictions will work, my rules and creativity restrictions.
- When 2026 arrives, I won't allow myself to add anymore 2026 predictions, and I'll archive the entries I made in 2025 on December 31st 2025 to better distinguish which entries were added in 2025 so future people can look back and distingush the state of the project in 2025. When it's 2027, I'll archive the state of the timeline as of the end of 2026 and not add anymore 2027 predictions. When it's 2028, the state of the 2027 timeline will be archived and there will be no more 2028 predictions, and so on.
- In 2026, adding 2027 predictions and beyond are allowed. In 2027, 2028 predictions and beyond are also allowed, and so on.
- In 2026, I will also add 22nd century entries (2101-2200), but I'm not allowed to add any 23rd century predictions, but I'm still allowed to add or modify existing 21st century predictions as long as it isn't 2026 predictions. In 2027, I will allow myself to add 23rd century predictions (2201-2300), but no 24th century predictions, and can add, modify, or delete some 21st or 22nd century predictions, as long as I don't change my 2027 prediction set or earlier. In 2028, 24th century predictions are allowed, can mod 21st-23rd century predictions, can't edit my 2028 predictions or earlier, and so on.
- When adding an entry in the timeline, I often build on it and expand the lore. I then connect that to the rest of what's going on and make them influence each other, kind of like a web of influencing factors.
- That of course, assumes I'll still have the motivation to even work on this for all these years, as there's a realistic chance I may forget about this website in the late 2020s, but as of late 2025 and early 2026, motivation is riding high. Even so, at least there's a place where people can explore my timeline well into the future, and see which predictions I got hilariously wrong, which ones ring a bell with "We sort of got that already" vibes, and which tiny few are scarily accurate.
- With that out of the way, let's journey through the rest of the 21st century starting from 2026 all the way to 2100 with imagined events based off of the path, with unexpected ones along the way that'll influence the timeline later down the line! Starting now!
Hello there! I'm a 21 year old tech geek. This is my corner of the internet to speculate all about the future. I'm obsessed with future lore at the moment, and mentally, I'm in the year 2035, or 2045, or 2090, or 2070, or whatever future year you're thinking of as long as it isn't too far ahead (2140 is roughly the cutoff point where I lose interest). I always tend to speculate what a given future year would be like in everything from technology, to politics, to science, to society, to cultural vibes and aesthetics, and everything else in between. It ranges from the near future, around the late 2020s and early 2030s or so, all the way to the late 21st century (~2070s-90s) as of December 2025. These speculations are based off of current trends in the style of a history book remixed into future lore, and partially as a journal. Got anxiety? I'll just journal it out and remix it into fictional future events building on lore that came before. Got hope? I'll also remix that. Got an unhinged idea? I'm also gonna add it into the timeline. I then build on that foundation and branch off from there, and link it to other events.
The future is inherently unpredictable, but that's part of the beauty. We already know what cultural trends, technologies, political events, aesthetics, gadgets, singular events, and everything else in between, went mainstream or came and went in the 2010s. We already know 2000s events, and the 1990s, the 1980s, and so on and so forth for as long as those memories are remembered and passed down generations. We will always look back at the past.
The 2030s and beyond? From 2025's perspective, it's a totally blank canvas, and any cultural trend could arise. No one knows what 2035 is gonna be like until 2035 actually comes. No one knows what 2070 is gonna look like until 2070 comes, and so forth. The only things I can predict for certain is that there will always be old stuff mixed in with the new, and it will always be messy in a way. Always has been. Always will be. When actual 2035 arrives, I could look back at this site to see what I got hilariously wrong, which ones would ring a bell and feel like "okay we kind of got that", and which tiny few, probably 4% of them, were scarily accurate. In 2025, I can't know which handful of predictions are gonna be the scarily accurate ones my 2035 self (and probably the internet), will look back on.
I'm currently trying to minimize my social media consumption as much as possible, particularly Reddit and YouTube, the two platforms that are pulling me in the most. Instead of constant mindless consumption, I try to force myself to strike a balance between creating and consuming, where the content I consume will then influence what I create in this timeline. I'm training my brain to rebel against the big platforms designed to vacuum your attention and soul for ad revenue, and to free my psyche from the grasp of big tech corporations.
Also, here's a cat being pushed off of a table in 2036!
